Cleveland Street Mixed use development

We were invited by UCLH to a limited competition to design a mixed use Development on the Cleveland street site in Fitzrovia. The site was constrained by the need to retain and plan our concept around the listed workhouse building on the site . Our concept provided a mixed use development on the site which provide a state of the Art Laboratory space which wrapped around the existing listed workhouse . The two buildings were linked by a new glazed entrance atrium which connected the new with the old . The workhouse was refurbished to provide residential accommodation and a new social Housing block was provided at the rear of the site . The site was also re planned to reinstate the old historical pedestrian link through the site . The proposed concept was capped with an iconic floating glass bar of executive accommodation floating above the central laboratory building. The concept submitted was judged as the winning concept and the Design team were appointed to develop the concept through to a planning application. Paul Treacy was the Design Director which led this project from inception to the RIBA stage 3 .The development is currently under construction on site .
